A Voice From the Grave

One Foot in the Grave - Beck

I have loooong been a fan of Beck, dating back to the casette single for 'Loser' which had the classic B-side of 'Alcohol', both great tunes. I bought Mellow Gold on maybe two different occasions but somehow never lasted longer than a few weeks, adolescence or sneaky friends I guess. Anyways, a few years back I dug deep into Beck's acoustic work and some of his indie albums that feature heavy alt-country sytles, awesome stuff. I'v grabbed some tunes from folks collections and searched ebay tirelessly for the Beck-Willie Nelson recordings to no avail. Needless to say, I've been waiting for this sucker!

I never pulled the trigger on the Odelay redo, still need that, but this might happen first.

I just copped this the other day. Based on just one listen, I'll say that it is pretty uneven with some flashes of brilliance. I think that it might reward repeated listens.

In other news, our buddies from Deer Tick must have made an impression on the Rolling Stone folks:

It's pretty obvious that Rolling Stone is stealing ideas from LTME.
